Yesterday was a great day for traveling – sunny yet cool. The last two PT schools that I went to visit were in Stockton and Sacramento.

University of the Pacific

I first headed out to Stockton on this beautiful sunny day. While driving on highway 160, I was behind a truck in a one lane for approximately 20 miles or so, this made the drive a bit slower. When I eventually got to University of the Pacific (UOP), I parked in front of Burns Tower and walked across the bridge to get to where the PT Department was located. All of the buildings at UOP that I saw were brick. This reminded me of USC main campus but these bricks seem newer.

The campus was pretty quiet and the PT department was quite empty. The second years were out on clinicals and the first years were taking a final exam on Therapeutic Exercises. I talked with one of the administrative personnel – Consuelo Roberts. The PT Department chair was in the middle of the project and unable to speak with me. I also knew Todd Davenport, DPT an associate professor for UOP, who was going through USC residency when I was going through the program. I handed flyers and bookmarks to Consuelo and went on my way. The Health Science Library was right across the PT department but I was unable to enter without any student ID or visitor pass. I ended up just leaving but could see some art work hanging.

CSU Sacramento

I left UOP and went north on I-5 to Sacramento. It took about an hour to arrive at CSU Sacramento. This is my old stomping ground for my undergraduate degree and was familiar where to go. It’s been quite a while since returning to the campus and noticed new buildings. I couldn’t find a parking spot near the PT department building and ended up parking on the other side of campus near the bookstore.

I noticed a lot of new buildings and additions to the campus. I went into the new bookstore and was quite impressed about it. I bought a book there and then headed to Solano Hall where the Kinesiology, Physical Education and Physical Therapy departments are located. I went to the fourth floor and spoke with a few of my professors and then went to the PT Department. The Department Chair and the administrative support coordinator were both out in a meeting. I left information with the front office and then headed to the library.

Once I was done with CSUS, I was then done visiting all of the California PT schools. In two weeks time, I have visited 15 PT schools and got to see a lot of variety going to the different schools. This is just the beginning of visiting all of the PT schools, Washington will be next.
